"Dr. G.,"
What makes you so certain there is no such thing as resistance to
thyroid hormone? I invite you to read the scientific papers published
by Dr. John Lowe, et al, but some don't believe anything HE'S written
because he's "only" a chiropractor.
I also recently gave the address of a good web site sponsored by
Massachusetts General Hospital and the Harvard Medical School Department
of Genetics which deals with this subject in depth. I always thought
Harvard had a pretty solid reputation in the medical community.
It's precisely this type of attitude that's kept me walking around
feeling like crap for the last several years. For instance, a TRH
stimulation test can show evidence of a pituitary or hypothalamic
insufficiency when the "standard" thyroid tests appear normal, but most
doctors today consider it outdated and unnecessary and have abandoned it
for the TSH test only. Normal TSH = no thyroid problem -- NOT! Can you
offer some suggestions about where else to look when these symptoms
persist (other than psychological)?
Dale
