Magda, I was told by a number of people knowledgeable about hypothryoid that
it is not a good idea to add a lof of iodine to one's diet. My
endocrinologist thinks that 150 mcg is ok (the amount in a multivitamin pill)
and occassional kelp is ok too (in chinese soups etc) but it is not a good
idea to go on heavy iodine foods or supplements as it can push the thyroid to
become overactive.

Some alternative medicine books do advise intake of kelp and iodine, but I
think they are misled in this.

I am not familiar with iodine or kelp and hyperthyroidism.
