Hello. I'm new to this list, but have had Graves' disease for a number of
years. I'd like to ask some questions about Armour Thyroid, as I'm not
familiar with it. But first: I noticed this FDA recall in the Public
Citizen Newsletter this morning:
Armour Thyroid, Class III recall; lot #FP0622, Expiration Date 12/98;
Manufacturer: Forest Pharmaceuticals, St. Louis, MO.; Problem: Failed
content assay
My questions: Can I assume that you're talking about natural desiccated
beef thyroid gland? Is this product being used by people who are
"self-medicating" for symptoms which could relate to hypothyroidism? Is
anyone taking it with the knowledge and consent of a mainstream physician?
Has anyone who is taking it been definitively diagnosed hypothyroid? (I
know people are saying that it works, I just want to be sure how they're
coming to this conclusion.)
Thank you.
