Margaret,  good for you and your husband.  I have yet to figure out why Dr.'s
feel so threatened by patients with knowledge about their situation(s).  Is
it because they don't know themselves and don't want us to know that they
don't know?

I know I would  and do respect a Dr who is appreciative when I have questions
and knowledge about me and my situation.  Especially when the Dr. says they
have to look further into my question and will get back to me.  What I don't
like and won't accept is, 'you'll have to trust me', with nothing to back it
up!

I hope your daughter appreciates your research, it may have saved her vocal
cords.  I had a total thyroidectomy (malignant) and my vocal cords are fine
and untouched.  ( I love to sing solos in church, and wish I had the voice of
a professional  :o)  but I don't, so protect hers).

You two keep up the good work.  Your work is ableing your daughter to study
for her exams.  Remember too, it really doesn't end at surgery.
