Have you looked at Kurzweil 3000. There is a Mac version. Check out
http://www.kurzweiledu.com/kurzweil3000.html

I have used and had good results with clients who have a variety or
reading disabilities, including dyslexia.

Subject: Macintosh screen reader

I am looking for a program that will work on an Imac that will take the
place of ReadPlease or TextAloud. This is for a person who is dyslexic
so I
am not looking for a program like Outspoken. I am looking for a program
that you highlight text and it reads it whatever the application that
you
are in. I am not familiar with the Mac side and have done some searching
but
have come up empty handed so far. Thank you.
