Thanks for the many who responded. There are quite a few of us that have
trouble with calcium/magnesium and D. I was looking for citrate only as it is
more easily digestable. I have to be careful of the magnesium as most of them
have aspartate in them. Here are the suggestions I received:
2
Votes for Twin Lab's TRIBORON PLUS. It is cal/mag with Vit D and boron for
easy
absorption. TriBoron Plus has copper in it. Anyone who has had cancer should
not be taking copper supplements. It makes tumors grow because it has an
angiogenesis factor in it.
It has been my experience that if you slowly sneek up on your dosage your
body becomes adjusted to the vitamin D and calcium. Also some persons react just
the opposite by becoming constipated and should slowly build up their
dosage. It takes a few weeks but after that everything is OK This may work for some
people, but it hasn't worked for me. D is not tolerated in my intestines.
I use Andrew Lessman's Calcium Magnesium Intensive Care. It's in a powder
form and states on the bottle that it's gf. You can check these vitamins on
hsn.com. I've used then for years and have not experienced any digestive problems
with them Andrew Lessman Calcium Intensive Care High Solubility Plus Vitamin
D - 60 Count I saw it on hsn.com as a capsule. It didn't say what kind of
calcium source it was but it is not calcium carbonate.
Try Caltrate, they have several types and all are GF. Caltrate is made from
calcium carbonate.
Citracal Plus and have taken other Citracal products before without problem.
They are gluten-free. The Citracal Plus does not have aspartate in it (does
contain magnesium). There is a Citracal +D.
Mission Pharmacal: 1-800-292-7364
http://www.citracal.com
http://www.citracal.com/citracal.htm Citracal is ok but the D bothers me.
I take Nature Made Calcium with mag., but would like to know of a more
reliable brand.
Freeda vitamin product. It is Calcium Carbonate; elemental calcium is only
260 mg/tablet; 4 tablets per day recommended. They are guaranteed GF, lactose
free, no artifical color or flavors, no animal derivatives, no sugar or
starch, no gelatin, no yeast.
COSTCO brand calcium with D. Says GF on the label. Don't know if this is
citrate or carbonate.
Try to get at least15 minues of sunshine a day some how and you will get your
Vit C naturally.
Was never able to tolerate any calcium supplements w or w/o vitamin D until I
found Osteo-Prime Forte. OsteoPrime is made by PhytoPharmica, a company that
makes pharmaceutical grade supplements. It's generally not available at
health food stores,
but can be found at compounding pharmacies, naturopathic & alternative MD's
offices. It was designed by the famous Jonathan Wright MD ND. It can also be
found on line. Just search OsteoPrime and you'll find several sources. Here
are the first three that popped up when I did a Google search.
Solgar Calcium with mag. 1:1 (balanced) I think that the magnesium offsets
the constipation of the cal. carbonate. It has to be the 1:1 formula only. It is
very expensive.
I am now taking Vitamin Shoppe pure calcium citrate. I have to take 6 a day,
they are horsepills and I have to crush them. I got Vitamin World pure
magnesium 500 mg g/f, allergy free. I'll get my Vit D from the sun. I checked out
Vitamin World calcium and it has casein phosphopeptides in it. I did a google
search and it is definitely a milk product. I don't know why Vitamin World states
it is dairy free.
Thanks for all your help. Watch out for the hidden ingredients in
everything!
