Still receiving the time out message when I try to ping either
computer. Without going into boring detail, I have tried every
configuration I could come up with. I can certainly ping internet sites
with no problem.
I can't figure out how a working setup in two ancient (200 mHz and
266 mHz) computers cannot be duplicated with these newer (and
much faster) ones.
Since internet connections sharing will not work without the ability to
ping the other computer, I have decided to go with the purchase of
a dual modem. The USR looked nice, but was way too pricey, so
have ordered the actiontec.
At least that will allow the two computers access, at the same time.
And now of course, I'm looking at ways to utilize two modems to
double my connection speed. *G*
Thanks for the suggestions.

his temperamental modem, sat back, and counted the dots in his
acoustical tile ceiling until he finally connected to the Internet.
He entered the missing girl's name into a search engine, heard the
computer hum and snore and flatulate---indatagestion.
