Greetings Marilyn and list--
The simplest way (perhaps the only way) to avoid this problem is
to set up the printer again, giving it a different name, like
letter Canon. This will give you another printer icon in your
printer folder and another choice of printers from your applications.
Set one of the printer's properties (while in the printers folder)for
draft resolution, and the other's for letter quality. When printing
from your application, just choose the printer with the appropriate
settings.
