Thanks to all who replied! We found a B&B in Hendersonville that caters to
special diets called Melange. They even have 2 types ofgluten-free bread!
the website is www.melangebb.com. Below is a summary of other suggestions.

I have had really good luck with Bistro 1896, in Pack Square in Asheville.
It's not terribly cheap (entrees are mostly in the $15-$20 range), but
it's good, and all very fresh/seasonal, and they handle "no grains,
no dairy, no soy" without a problem.

Jamie (the chef) had no trouble adapting a couple of truly superb
dishes (brown sugar and red pepper crusted duck, and blackened
mahi-mahi) to GF.

Marketplace in Downtown Asheville (not too far from Bistro 1896)
also is known to do well with GF; just call ahead. (I've eaten there
pre-GF, but my Celiac grandmother and wheat-allergic stepmother
were both there at the time, and did fine).

Inn at Biltmore Estate

Outback Steakhouse

We've had good luck with Highland Lake Inn in Flat Rock. They grow a lot
of their own vegetables and just about everything is made from scratch.

If you need to buy food, the Hendersonville Community Coop on Old
Spartanburg Hwy is great and reasonably priced. They also have a small
cafe there and are pretty used to people with diet requests.
