Hi Everyone,
I called Stagg Chili the other day to check gf status since there was Modified Food Starch listed on the ingredients label and I wanted to double check on its source. Well, they said they're a sub-company of Hormel and that Hormel will only use MFS from corn. The woman told me that they have shifted to gluten-free ingredients and will soon be adding "Gluten Free" to their labels. (I suppose that means on the things that aren't obvious breaded items.)
I was thrilled to hear this and told her how wonderful that is for all us Celiacs and especially for non-Celiacs to see it on a main-stream label (when friends see that they tend to "believe" there's actually something to this gluten business...many think its just a phase or a choice). She said they're on the fast track to this end because one of their Senior VP's is a Celiac!!!! Woweee! What a boon for us! I suppose that as VIP's of various companies are diagnosed our lives will become simplified by their understanding.
Now...if we could just convince our Congressmen/women and Senators to get tested for Celiac...the statistics are in our favor........:)
  Have a great day!
