i was told, check with the manufacturer yourself when buying drugs.

When calling them, i asked not "is it gluten-free" but what are the inert
ingredients?

Wheat starch is apparently common in drugs. It is controversial whether
wheat starch actually harms celiacs.

Or, some suggested resources for this info:

There is a great website - glutenfreedrugs.com = try it...

There is a big book that you can get called "Celiac Sprue-A Guide through
the Medicine Cabinet." It lists both prescription and over-the-counter
meds.

Not true, you have to call each manufacturer, or go to clanthompson.com

Sounds like your pharmacist needs an education! There is a lot to worry
about in prescription drugs. The fillers used often contain gluten, as do
the coatings, and some of the dyes are problematic for celiacs.

Call Stokes Pharmacy and request their GF free book listing the Rx's that
are current. Yes, many, many drugs have with gluten and dairy in them.

Clan Thompson sells a pocket guide for $4.95 that is quite handy.

I like to check out drugs at www.rxlist.com It lists the inert
ingredients.

Wheat starch can be used in meds and it need only be labeled as 'starch'
by law. This differs from food where 'starch' must be from corn.

There are also a couple of other term than can signify wheat...
