It's recommended to use the boot floppy for the OS that you are installing. However, I use a 98 boot disk for the Win95 OS because of the added drivers (cdrom especially) and also because I can set up for The FAT 32 if needed.

But if there's a problem, then I use the 95 floppy. You could go to
www.bootdisk.com for a choice of downloads that have more tools than the standard floppies made from the OS's.

Western Digital, Seagate and Maxter also have good boot disks for their Hard drives.

As I see it-- the original problem is due to a faulty boot floppy or the previous OS installation causing the "no extended memory driver loaded" message.

One other thing, Check what tools are on your floppy boot disk by typing DIR at the A:\ prompt, HIMEM.SYS should be there.

 It's possible your FDISK and FORMAT setup was faulty and needs to be redone.--Mike michel
