Major Lang Tombong Tamba, commander of the state guards, has been redeployed
to the Army head quarters with effect from today, unimpeachable sources
close to the heart of the Gambian government told me. Major Tamba's
redeployment is provoking a lot of debate and speculations. Some sources
have it that his transfer may be connencted to lekage of Imam Fatty's
cassettee, which is widely circulated in the country. While other sources
say his transfer was a normal army routine. What ever the case may be the
former state house commander had finally been moved.
My sources from Banjul, say one Captain Sonko, who was Tamba's deputy
replaced the army majo. The veil controversy is far from settling.
Muslims across the country are debating over it. Some have vowed to defy
the president's decree. IN a related developments, sources have a major
electrical problem confronting the airport. The new new generator is
reported faulty, which police to question top brass of the civil Aviation.
Those questioned were suspected of sobotage.
