Yeah, but I think kids his age don't "see" what they're looking at--even the
good ones like Benjamin.  My oldest, Adrienne (19) can be so insensitive at
times, but there's nothing sinister behind it.  They're just so wrapped up
in themselves that it's hard for them to see the hurt in others unless you
come right out and tell them.  I've learned to be forward with her, to the
point of being curt, to cut through the "me" fog.

The trip to Mexico--especially if he's headed to work in a really
impoverished area--should help with the sensitivity, I'd think.

other than his volunteer work at church and a mission
to mexico, yes. i have tried to let him know i can not
make it without his help this summer. so far he has
stepped up when ask. i'd like to see him anticipate
and step up without being ask.
