Bear in mind that since January 1, all checked luggage is being manually
searched. I would _never_ pack anything that I didn't figure I could afford
to lose if I was checking a bag. Every travel agent I know is offering the
same advice...either don't check a bag or pack only the least valuable
things in it and carry anything valuable on the plane. If you must check a
bag, don't lock it or the lock will be destroyed.

A friend of mine did a couple months ago, only thing is, you want to make
sure it's well protected because my friend's suit case took a beating and
destroyed his $1000 camera.
