I had one of these about a dozen years ago and it worked well for me.  The
only thing I would add to what has been said is that I seem to remember that
some of the early ones had a problem with the matching network contained in
a plastic box at the base of the antenna.  I think it was a sealing problem
that let moisture get in.

I wouldn't worry about it, but if on the odd chance it won't load up for you
and there is no other reason, check that box out.  Good luck.
