Hello,
I've learned that I have high cholesterol and need to start taking medication. I've tried Pravachol and Lipitor but unfortunately have side effect with them - muscle pain and weakness, a general all-over body ache where I feel like I'm coming down with a severe case of the flu. The doctor told me that I cannot take any of the cholesterol meds in the family of Pravachol and Lipitor without having the same horrid side effects. He's given me the names of 6 other types of cholesterol meds that work differently in the body and therefore may not give me the same side effects. I looked at the gluten & medications website http://www.glutenfreedrugs.com/ and only found 2 that were gluten-free. Can anyone tell me the status of the other 4? Also, if anyone has any experience with any of the 6 drugs, I'd appreciate hearing about it.
Meds on the list as gluten-free:
1. Questran
2. Tricor
Meds not on the list:
1. Welchol
2. Zetia
3. Niaspan
4. Lopid
Thanks for all your help!
Deb
