Thank you so much for all the responses!
I must admit I learned a lesson from posting
on this site...it is to be very clear and
don't leave out details! I apologize for not
giving any history about myself. I HAVE
had my appendix AND my gallbladder
removed years ago. NO, I am not pregnant!
In the past I have had dx's such as ulcerative
colitis and lymphocytic colitis but have not
had those kind of flare up since I went gluten
free 3 years ago. I have had several abdominal
surgeries so maybe possibility of scar tissue
twisting my intestine up but thought I would
have pain with that? As a reminder I said
that I have a spot two inches on the right
of my belly button that acts up daily and
the movement reminds me of a small baby
kicking inside of me. (Although I didn't
mention sometimes it feels like a full grown
fetus kicking the heck out of me!) It really
is alarming! I have had no change in bowel
habits and there is NO pain involved here
(unless I poke and prod at the site trying
to find something there, then it can get a
little tender!) It's hard to distinguish the
lumps and bumps in my abdomen because
over the years I have lost over 120 pounds
and I wonder which lumps are leftover
chunks of fat or skin still lurking around
that area. Beneath the extra padding on
my abdomen the wall appears to be very
tight and muscular, but not without lumps?
When my friend mentioned a tumor possibly
sitting there interfering with the movement of
my bowel, I really freaked out!
The majority of responses asked if it could be
the appendix, gallbladder, pregnancy, or hernia.
A few said it could be trapped gas. (I suppose
it could be but why in the same spot for 7
months now?)
One person said it sounded like my ileocecal
valve (where the large and small intestine meet)
that sometimes contracts out of sync.
Another person asked if I had a worm (parasite).
This person recommended parasite cleanses like grapefruit seed extract to get rid of tapeworm.
Also products with wormwood and walnut husk.
Another person thought it might be muscle tics,
possibly related to extra stress or maybe caffeine
intake.
Another person said she had a similar sensation
and an ultrasound revealed she is missing a
support for part of her lower intestine and this
sometimes causes the intestine to sort of fold
over so that she could feel, (and see!) a bulging
in her lower right abdomen. As long as it doesn't
get serious she does not have plans to do anything
about it.
I did get a response from a medical student:
I am a medical student and from what
I know about lymphomas a typical
intial symptom is a painless unilateral lump.
This lump should not "move" or "kick"
although you may be able to move it with
your hand. So my first instinct is that your lump is probably not lymphomic.
Secondly, I frequently have movement in my gut. I always attribute it to my GI tract. After all,
intestines, stomach, etc are all mobile organs
with some amount of free movement in the gut. I know my intestines can get a little jumpy at times, most especially if I eat something that doesn't particularly agree with me (although it can happen anytime). Your area of movement is close to a major flexure of the large intestine (ascending to transverse colon) and this makes me suspect this could be
the issue.
Most everyone said not to worry and that it
didn't sound like lymphoma.
AND last but not least: The majority of
responses I received mentioned that they
too have the exact same complaint as I do
EXCEPT pain is involved as there is none with me.
Thank you and I will let everyone know what
the doc says on the 12th of January.
Lauren
