Hi,
I have questions about two things. My 12 1/2 yr old, despite adhering
religiously to the GF since her diagnosis last year, has continued to have GI
problems. When we went for a follow-up visit to her gastro Dr., he ran a lot
of blood tests including blood sugar which was elevated. He followed up with
a fasting blood sugar test and the results came back slightly below the
cutoff for diabetes. Now he is recommending that she see an endicrinologist.
In the meantime, does anyone have any advice/ suggestions on lowering blood
sugar through diet? (beside the obvious - don't eat sugar/candy). If anyone
has kids with CD and diabetes, how do you cope with all those dietary
restrictions? Here I was, finally feeling like we've got this GF thing under
control, and now I'm feeling overwhelmed all over again. Also, my daughter
has to have a colonoscopy. I know someone recently posted an excellent
summary on colonoscopy advice, but does anyone have any additional advice to
add for a kid having to go through this? Has anyone been through this with
their child? Any help/ suggestions would be much appreciated.
