Dear Listmates -

Thank you for your responses to this.

Nearly everyone said that it can give false negatives, but not false
positives.
One person said it can, but only 5% of the time.
One person said a study in Europe showed it can give a false positive.
One person said that her sister had a positive anti-endomysial, when what
her sister has is Crohn's Disease. The endoscopy was normal.
One person said she tested positive, yet biopsy was negative, but
response to
GF diet definitely indicated she is Celiac.

A couple of listmates said that maybe he is pretty much asymptomatic
because
the CD may have just triggered recently, so he tests positive but
doesn't seem to
have symptoms at this point.

Several said to go by whether a GF diet makes a difference - but he is
pretty
much asymptomatic. He suspected his father and grandparents had it (never
tested - all deceased), and got this test because of conflicting blood
test results
when he participated in U of Maryland and U of Chicago blood test study (at
my request - since I am Celiac and we have adult offspring).

Several said he should have an endoscopy, and most of these said maybe
he needs to
change doctors, to find someone who pursues this and does the endoscopy.

Thank you, everyone!
Vicki
