Two things...
first, YES, I've had doctors tell me that the lactose in meds won't hurt my
son, who is anaphylactic to milk. Thankfully, I've had one family practice
physician's assistant point out to me recently that we should be careful with
meds because of lactose fillers. My son and I were very impressed that she
knew this and brought it up on her own. She's a keeper!

secondly, be careful to read the ingredients of ALL meds if you're allergic
to milk. The pharmacist and I go over anything prescribed for my son. Not
only did we find lactose in Claritin tablets, but also in a new powdery type
asthma inhaler. Holy cow! That would have been frightening...to give my son
his inhaler when he's having asthma trouble only to have him breathing in a
milk protein. Yikes!
We operate under the "rule" that Corey cannot eat, drink, breathe in, etc.
anything unless we've check the ingredients...every time.
