Weather you can upgrade the processor depends on what the motherboard will
support. But if you can't upgrade the processor, and if the other parts of
the computer are ok (hard drives, CD-ROM and such) then instead of buying a
new computer look into just getting a new motherboard and processor. You can
pick up a good motherboard and processor for a less than $200.
You may also want to look at how much ram you have in your existing
computer. It may be that the processor is of a decent speed, (you really
should give a little more information with your posts).

I have an old hp pavilon and it is really slow. it has windows 95 on it and
i want to get a faster processor and possibly a better (newer) OS. i dont
