Both are okay. If you have a desktop, the internal will make your work space
less cluttered. However the external does provide you with mobile
capabilities.

If you can afford $300 get the Canopus ADVC-100. It will convert your analog
into a DV format. Most importantly, system requirements are minimum. Using a
video capture card will require super fast hard drives and a whole lot of
space if you want to do uncompressed video. DV makes life so much easier.
