40 = your Burn speeds read once media
12 = your re writable speed
48 = your CDR read only speed
Leave your settings in your burner software at automatic, and it will
select the correct speed for your media.
You can still use your 4X RW media, but you will want to buy 12X and above
in the future in order to increase your RW burn speed.
