I think it's because a mixture of SFA and MUFA is easier to wear. Body
fat functions as insulation as well as energy storage, and since SFA
tends to be rather hard I suppose it would hamper movement. On the
other hand, internal depot fat, such as kidney fat, serves a protective
function and so tends to be very saturated and hard. Again, that's just
a conjecture on my part, but it does seem to make sense.
