I don't know if this is true. I think Barry Sears would argue that fish oil
would help improve lipid profiles while others at say thincs.org would argue
differently. My point is that there is no one size fits all approach -- also,
perhaps there is a difference between how males and females deal with various
fatty acids. In any event, I just do not see the point in fixating on
cholesterol levels -- whether they are purportedly high or not. Unfortunately,
because of the American Heart Association propaganda, some people find their life
insurance and health insurance premiums are higher because of their alleged too
high cholesteral. Or worse, they are denied coverage altogether. Then these
people are placed on killer statins to lower the purportedly too high
cholesterol. I worked with such a victim. She went from a bubbly active person to a
fatigued, fatter person with grotesque dark circles under her eyes who would
complain to me about the muscle aches she got from the statins yet she was
brainwashed that she was "healthier" because her cholesterol numbers were
lowered. Fortunately, my total cholesterol has never been "out of range" according
to the "experts" -- just at the highest end of "normal". My HDL has always
been high and my triglycerides very low (30s so long as I keep carbs low) -- so
my insurance rates are low. My ratios however were improved even further after
upping saturated fat. But because I am concerned about the current
cholesterol paranoia and because I see the financial incentives for drug manufacturers
to get as many people as possible on statins, I have loaded up on life and
disability insurance now at a relatively young age because I believe that
cholesterol levels naturally rise with age and that though this is harmless and
perhaps even beneficial in terms of longevity, I have no intention of ever going on
a statin drug or being denied life or disability insurance (or having to pay
ridiculously high rates).
