The old year is slowly fading
"Let me go," it raps on the door.
There is time for everything.
"We hear you at the door,"
Says the human time keeper.
"Let me in," says the New Year
But not on December 24th.
THIS IS CHRISTMAS EVE.
"We need the gifts,"
Says the human time keeper.
Alright, you have seven days,
The old year must become The New
So that we all can say,
WE ALL MADE IT.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS, MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Of course to the Edo-speaking person it is ISELOGBE all over again.
Iselogbe, Edo.
Oba ghato,r okpere. Ise!
Ademola Iyi-Eweka
