Hi everyone-

I'm actually looking for some advise on my baby's 2nd biopsy results. He's been GF for 5 months and NOT doing better, so his GI re-biopsied him. We got the results today, but haven't had a chance to talk w/ the doctor yet(going out of town for the weekend). So, I'm kind of trying to make sense of them...if any of you can help explain some of the terms, that would be great:

"Moderate villous atrophy w/ mild regenerative atypia of the epithelium.(what does that mean?) Intraepithelial lymphocytes are mildly increased, including at the villous tips. Epithelial injury or parasites are not seen. The stroma contains a normal amount of monnucular cells.

Diagnosis: small bowel mucosal biopsies-- moderate villous atrophy w/ mild intraepithelial lymphocytic infiltrate. Compared w/ other biopsy- no change in degree of villous atrophy. Inflammatory infiltrates actually appear mildly increased as compared to prior biopsy."

So, he is now a year old-- on neocate formula (100%amino acid medical food), and a very few simple foods. He has been GF and no improvement. So, if this is not CD, then what else could cause this intestinal damage? He has tested IgE negative to milk and soy...but has been off all of them for these past 5 months...so they are likely not the culprits.

I know many of you are very well read on digestive disorders, so any light you might shed is so appreciated!
