Hi Listmates,

I am looking for a knowledgeable doctor in the St. Charles/St. Louis area
for my dad who lives in Wright City, Missouri. After wrangling with his
primary care doctors for 10 months, I have finally got them to agree to
getting him tested for CD (he has early stage dementia).

He saw a GI in St. Charles last year who called me a couple of days ago
saying he was quite well versed on CD since his niece has the disease, then
told me he doubted my dad, in his present state, probably isn't getting
too much gluten in his diet anyway. ("!") I weep for his patients. He
seemed insulted that I ask about his knowledge of neurologic connections to
CD, he repeated that he was quite well versed, that his niece has the
disease. I responded that my own GI, and my son's GI were unfamiliar with
the connection, he said "All they need to do is look in a textbook." I
doubt the CD connection was in any textbook he ever read, some of the
information concerning the connection to CD is less than a year old.

I am in Virginia, not getting much help from my sibs on this. Anyone who
can recommend a good GI in that area will have my undying appreciation. I
would prefer someone who understands that there is zero tolerance for gluten.

Kit
