Is this a new, recent problem, or has the scanner always taken this long to
scan stuff?  I have an Epson at work that takes forever, though thankfully
not that long.  One thing you can try, sometimes works with HP scanners, is
to change the scanning contrast from automatic to normal.  That may chop the
time in half.  But some scanners are just plain slow, and it could have
something to do with your OS as well.  I'm not enough of a geek to know.  No
insult meant to the geeks out there, I'm just not cool enough to claim that
title.  Hope this helped somewhat.
