I have been waiting until they fight it out and settle on a standard. DVD-R
is still the most compatible. But until they end up with a standard, they
won't really advance either technology.
However, if I were to get one now, I would get one that did both. Of
course, there is no assurance that when they finally arrive at a standard
it, won't be some third format that blends the two. Once they do accept a
standard, you will see DVD burner prices under a hundred dollars across the
board.
