thanks, i have tried uninstalling and reinstating card etc, but the same
problem regarding "unknown device" recurs; with regards to pci card driver i
have looked at opti webpage and they state that the driver concerned is
generic and part of the win98se driver database on the disc; however as the
message line in device manager states that an opti pci is connx. to usb host
controller, does this line mean that the driver was found ok in win98 disc or
not? also on the win98 webpage i found a pos. answer though having downloaded
the patch offered it still doesn't work. namely it states that a bug in the
os, can lead to usb compatibility problems on the latency timing side of
things, this affects computers like mines with an amd processer of greater
than 350mhz ( mines-401mhz) an a via tech chip. thanks again and if anyone
has solved this type of problem please get in touch.
