Hello, Habib. I'm not sure what the population of Gambian / African Muslims is around the country, you might know that better than me. But you would think that someone somewhere along the way would have thought to start up a halal meat business, and that other African Muslims would support it. I don't get it. Why would someone want to go to the Indian store if there's an African business doing the same thing?
As a Muslim, if I can, I try to support Muslim businesses, if I know where they are, but usually I don't. I'm going to Chicago / Northwest Indiana in a couple of weeks, is there some kind of Islamic business directory I could look through and see what's avilable? For example, if I was going to eat somewhere, I'd rather eat at a Muslim business since there's a better chance of the meat being halal. Just an example / thought.
I'll have to ask some friends of mine in Chicago, too, they might know something as well.
It seems that there are more Muslim-owned businesses, and Muslims in general, in Chicago than in Northwest Indiana, although there's quite a lot there, too.
OK, I feel like I'm talking in circles, gotta go to sleep, I think.
