If it does fax as part of all in one, one might assume it saves files in
the tif format.  Using the ocr software to convert then requires that it be
set to recieve tif files.  Some ocr programs might be able to accept
various graphic format files, so if the scanner software saves in another
format then tif, it can be used.  One other issue is to know where the
scanner saves files so the ocr software can be told where to look for them.
Even so, it is probable that the file names saved will be strange
combinations of letters and numbers, unless one can name the file in the
scanner software.  I suggest your friend first find someone who knows about
retrieving files from bad floppy disks, often they can be retrived and put
on another disk using nortin or other such disk utilities.
