Click on Upgrades under Product Support.
Upgrade your system.
Input your service tag number, select Memory, and Go, and then Go again.
The memory part numbers suggested contain the necessary description
information.

You can also search for memory based on your computer make/model from any
number of online memory vendors, for example:
http://www.crucial.com
http://18004memory.com/upgrades.asp?

Everybody swears by Crucial but IMO the reputation extracts a price penalty.

Hi,
How can I tell, with out opening up the PC case, how many of my memory
slots
are taken up?  Also, how can I tell what type of memory I need to  buy?
I currently have 512mb of RAM and want to install more.  Whether it
matters,
I have a DELL Dimension 4100, running Windows XP Professional.
