Just to add to that, a friend of mine had a modem failure after a storm,
although the diagnosis kept coming back as 'working properly'
Eventually, a new modem was installed, but that wouldn't function either.
It turned out that the problem was not only the modem, but the slot on the
m/b too. Luckily for her, she had a spare one to install the modem into, but
that particular one will not function any more. The rest of the m/b is
working fine in her case.
Thought it might be worth mentioning.
