Well, I found conflicting information about calcium absorption and fat.
It is a fact that calcium and fats form soaps. A very ancient way to
make soap is to use limestone from pulverized seashells and mix it with
tallow. Supposedly this is not a very digestible mixture, and I have no
trouble believing that. On the other hand, vitamin D enhances calcium
absorption, and dietary vitamin D itself is a fat-soluble vitamin that
is best absorbed in the presence of fats. I'm not sure of the dietary
implications of all this, if there are any.
