Hello Listmates,
Thank you to all who reponded to my inquiry of restaurants in NYC that cater to the GF diet. We ended up eating at O'Lunney's Irish Pub both Friday and Saturday nights for dinner. We gave the server a copy of our restaurant card and she attached it to our order each night, too. They were very accomodating. My husband had been in the city on business prior to my trip with the kids and the manager even gave him a tour of the kitchen.

This is my first time doing a summary so be nice...

Recommended restaurants/types of restaurants:

Asian /Japanese restaurants - order sushi, but not eel or artificial crab; do not use soy sauce.
Steak and Seafood type places

Brazil Grill - around 8th and 46th St.
Jack Rose - 8th and 47th (ph: 212-247-7518) - chicken breast and steak
Zuni - 9th and 43rd.(212-765-7626)
Chimichurri Grill - 9th and 43rd (212-586-8655)
McDonald's - they are just about on every block!
Judson Grill - on 52nd b/w 6th and 7th; chef Bill Telepan; 212-582-5252 (see write-up in Dec. Gourmet Magazine)
O'Lunney's Irish Pub - on W46th just east of Times Square
Ipanema - on W46th, just off Fifth Ave. (Brazillian Food is GF, except for the bread)
Oyster Bar - lower level of Grand Central Station
Metro Fish - Fifth Avenue and 36th Street

O'Lunney's was highly recommended. The kids enjoyed their GF meals. We also ate at McDonald's and for breakfast one of the mornings we ate GF cereal, GF muffins (brought from home), juice, fruit and milk (purchased from Starbucks) and ate in the hotel room.

A couple other suggestions for resources were: a new book that has 50 national restaurants and lists their GF items - go to
www.goodhealthpublishing.com ;

A website that lists restaurants in the NYC area that can serve gluten-free meals is www.glutenfreerestaurants .

Thanks again to you all.
