How many people do you know that eat rotten fruit?

I'm sure it's possible that our paleo ancestors ingested alcohol in the
form of rotten fruit in times of need or starvation.

My argument was that alcohol was not part of the paleo diet.

If the question is, did paleo folks ingest alcohol incidentally as a
result of eating rotten fruit, sure I would agree with that.
