I think the answer can be derived from a statement delivered by Jeff Keller
earlier on this topic.

This also applies to humans I think. If the water content of ones food is
approximately 70%, or maybe a bit less, then there is normaly no need for
extra water during or after the meal. Otherwise a need arises.

In some cases the need for water during a meal maybe has something to do
with insufficient saliva production.
