Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the suggestions. It just so happens that the floppy cable
burned. The system was brought to me because the guy dropped an appliance in
a bucket of water, which shorted out the electricity in his entire house.
His computer was on. Oddly enough, the Floppy cable must have fried, because
upon replacing it the system no longer hangs!

This was a weird one. Why would just a floppy cabe fry? why wouldn't the
CPU, or the Hard Drive or CD-ROM, WHY the floppy cable? Everything else
checks out fine and diagnostic tests say all is working!
