Dear List members,
I have a major problem. I was on the internet the other day and I
downloaded some files. I shut down my computer for the day. Then the
next morning I turned on the computer to find that a lot of Windows '95
drivers were currupted or missing. Apparently I must have downloaded a
virus or something. I have Norton's anti virus program. Oh well. I
reinstalled Windows and had to reinstall the various component drivers
again. All was going well until I got to the Video card. I have a 4MB STB
Velocity 128 PCI card. I installed the dirvers and at first it seemed to
take it ok. But when I rebooted it gave me a blank screen after the
Windows logo screen. I then booted to safe mode. In the hardware list
I found that regular VGA card drivers were in its place. So I tried again
and
then the same thing happened, the blank screen. I then booted to safe
mode again and found that the new installation was there. It said that
the STB Velocity 128 was working properly. So again I booted the
computer. Again the blank screen. I tried to move the card to a
different PCI Slot and I made sure that all of the bios requirements
were set. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and windows'95
over and over again. This is really frustrating. I have gotten
passed the blank screen a few times and it stated that the wrong video
drivers were loaded. It would ask me to find the drivers on the STB
driver CD. I did and it said that the drivers did not match the hardware.
Huh?? Help me please!!! I have spent all day working on this
problem. Is this a video card problem or a system problem? I think that
it is a system problem. What could I do to make the system accept the
drivers for the card? I think I have covered every base that I know of.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
