That's an important point. Once you eat, how long do you wait until
eating again? That's a function of how badly you want to eat and how
much effort it will take you to get something to eat. As you say, in
our society (the developed world) getting food is just about effortless,
so even the slightest desire to eat is easily satisfied immediately.
Therefore we seldom have any reason to postpone eating. I agree that if
I impose some degree of restriction (no longer ad libitum) then my body
fat will decrease. For me, the restriction is artificial and requires a
special effort. For many hunter-gatherers, it is a natural part of the
economics of eating.
