Hi Bruce;

I don't think they do although they do supply many nutrients. Black bears
use nuts to fatten up before they den for the winter so they can't be all
that bad.

Certainly, I would not thumb my nose at nuts, a nutritious food that doesn't
run away or fight back and would eat till I was full and as long as I could
during its particular season.

I should qualify my comment:

I don't see the reason for the differentiation - both healthy or non-healthy
primitives would eat a high-quality food source as much as they could, to my
mind. Remember, they don't have grocery stores around and really don't know
when their next meal may appear... :-)
