Subject: insulin levels

>here is the truth: ingestion of protein stimulates insulin AND
glucagon.
>net result is blood sugar stays level.
>carbs stimulate insulin only. net result chaos.

I'm new to the list but thought I'd chime in on this. I have read both
her books and I think the results of her views are made evident in her
second book "SP: The Transition". In there she claims that it can take
years up to five years for many people to see improvements in health
and weight. Whereas most people I know who start on even a
non-pure-paleo but generic low carb diet and merely eliminate sugar,
all grains and potatoes see major improvements very quickly. IMO she
allows too many carbs. Her other problem is that she is a fan of soy
which is nothing but a toxin. She is also a fan of canola oil. What
she proposes IS better than the Std American Diet. The main virtue of
her books is that she includes a lot of anecdotes which a lot of
people find easy to connect with. I used to give her first book to
diabetics but have started giving them Dr Bernstein's Diabetes
Solution instead.
