Not related to sugar at all, but this reminds me of something I
did once. I remember on numerous occasions by grandparents
and my great-grandparents talking about drinking the liquid
out of tabasco peppers to get rid of a cold (the liquid is mostly
vinegar, I think? And this is the peppers that come in the skinny
little jars from the grocery store). Anyway, apparently this was
supposed to clear a cold right up.

One time when I was about 20 - 21 or so, I decided to try
this to get rid of a cold. Man, not kidding at all, that was
the closest I have ever come to calling 911 in my life. It
lit me up so bad I remember rolling around on the floor for
a while moaning. And I really didn't drink that much and
can normally tolerate hot stuff very well. It must have
just caught me the wrong way or something.

Looking back on it, it seems very funny to me. But that
hurt soooo bad...but it did take my mind off my cold.
