It's not so simple.  If you check into metabolic typing, the same foods that
have an alkaline effect in some people's bodies will have an acidic effect in
others depending upon their metabolic type.  This has apparently been
demonstrated by checking the ph reaction of blood from different metabolic
types after the ingestion of identical foods.  Kristal's book is fascinating.
