Hello all,
I recently attached an old hard drive as a slave to a master in a fully
functioning system so that I might transfer some of its data to the master
drive . When I powered up, the machine ran for about 4 seconds then shut
off. I removed the slave drive and powered up again with the same results.
When I pull the power cord out of the power supply, wait 10 seconds and
reinsert it, the machine restarts automatically and the same thing happens.
I have tried unhooking everything with the same results. Could it be that
the motherboard got toasted from the increased load? I tried a different
power supply with the same results. I doesn't matter greatly, I've already
transferred the data by other means. The machine is just one of those old
cheapo HP Pavillions, and I'll simply use what parts I can from it, but I am
curious to get an answer so it won't happen again. Anyone have any ideas?
thanks for all replies,
Glenn Miller
