The probiotics boom is only the start of this. I won't be surprised to
hear of scientists desperately searching the backwoods and mountains
for those few individuals who have never been dosed with antibiotics,
hoping to find the nearly extinct natural human gut flora. I have been
dosed so many times I can't even remember, usually for such minor
things, I can't imagine I have much normal microbial life left. My own
digestive troubles started soon after having several closely timed
doses of antibiotics. I sometimes wonder if that didn't have a greater
effect on my health than all the grains.

I am not anti-doctor, nor anti-drug, like some on this list seem to be.
Everything in its place. Antibiotics have saved a lot of peoples lives.

By the way, I took a storebought probiotics product twice recently, and
got severe diarrhea both times. Won't be trying THAT one again! Other
ones didn't have that effect. I suspect most of these products are just
varieties of yogurt with fancy names.
