Topic: Medical Considerations of Celiac Disease
Speaker: Captain John Himberger, FNP
Location: Memorial Hospital
Cafeteria Dining Romm #3
1400 East Boulder
Colorado Springs, CO 80909
Info: Even if you attend Celiac support group meetings irregularly, you won’t
want to miss this one! Air Force Capt. John Himberger, military
nurse-practitioner, along with his wife Laura (also a nurse and our new
chairman) will present a power-point program on Celiac disease. Newly
diagnosed Celiacs in particular are strongly encouraged to attend this Celiac
“primer”. And because Capt. Himberger includes updates on the latest
national and international research, even seasoned gluten-free “veterans”
are sure to glean important new knowledge.
Capt. Himberger will present an overview of Celiac disease, including the
mechanics of the disease, the gluten-free diet itself, associated risks of
further medical problems, and why adherence to a gluten-free diet is of
critical importance. There will be a question and answer period after the
presentation.
